Since this address is not in a Blueprint neighborhood, we will not be doing any Stormwater assessments in that immediate area. Lack of curbs or pavement grading can sometimes impede the water from getting to the storm drain inlets, and this can be further exacerbated by anything that slows that water down such as parked cars or leaves/debris in the curb gutter. This issue is pretty common throughout the city.

Here’s what residents can do:

First, residents can help by making sure to keep leaf and lawn debris or other litter out of the street, and report any significant buildup/blockages in front of storm drains to 311.

During winter, if the sump pump discharges are creating significant ice accumulations, residents can report these locations to 311, for review by the streets maintenance crew (DPS).

On streets that have recently been repaved, or had other types of road work, we also recommend residents report locations where water seems to be ponding and does not drain after two days. If submitted to 311 the complaint will be directed to the department that was overseeing that work.

If the flooding is significant, sustained, and affects multiple property owners, residents should try to take pictures or video and submit to 311. This will prompt an assessment by the Sewer System Improvements section, to determine need and priority for possible sewer modifications.

I hope this helps, and please feel free to contact us with additional questions.
